Pasadena Wedding Photographer documenting Melissa and Sam’s Intimate Celebration

We started the day with a short portrait session at a nearby park in Pasadena. It was quiet and calm, the kind of space that helps couples settle into the moment before everything begins. They walked together, laughed together, and let themselves be fully present. The light was beautiful and those first few portraits set the tone for the rest of the day. Everything felt warm, film like, and honest. They also brought their dog Rory, who they call their child, and having him there made the portraits feel even more personal and sweet. Rory became part of the story naturally and you can see that connection in the photos.

After portraits, we made our way to the ceremony space, a cozy restaurant venue filled with character and surrounded by people who clearly adore them. The atmosphere was relaxed and heartfelt. You could feel how close everyone was and how much this day meant to both sides of the family. Small details throughout the space reflected their personalities and even Rory appeared in some of the touches, which made everything feel even more meaningful.

My role for this wedding was a four hour coverage focused mostly on the ceremony and the moments surrounding it. The entire celebration had a soft, cinematic quality that felt like scenes from a quiet film. The smaller setting created room for genuine moments where nothing felt rushed or overly orchestrated. For couples who prefer a more private gathering or do not need full day coverage, a session like this can be a perfect way to celebrate while keeping the focus on connection and presence.

Melissa and Sam were incredibly easy to work with. They were open, grounded, and completely in tune with each other. I loved documenting their day and the way it unfolded so naturally. Pasadena continues to be one of my favorite places to photograph weddings and this one will always stay with me.
