An Artistic Couple Photoshoot at Pasadena City Hall

Kevin and Irene reached out wanting to do a photoshoot at Pasadena City Hall to celebrate a special moment in their lives. They are both artists who recently graduated college, and rather than an engagement session, they wanted something that felt like a milestone, a way to capture who they are right now. From the beginning, they told me they were open to experimenting with creative angles and ideas, and that instantly made me excited to collaborate with them. So instead of getting the classic engagement look, we go for a more natural and date like setting.

We started the shoot with a few simple warm-up poses to help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. From there, the photos evolved naturally from classic, editorial looks to moments that focused on subtle emotions such as the quiet pause before a kiss, a glance, or a laugh shared between them.

Even though I have photographed at Pasadena City Hall many times, I always find something new each time I return. Every couple brings a different kind of energy, and that inspires me to see the space in new ways. For Kevin and Irene, I experimented with angles I had never tried before and discovered fresh perspectives that felt true to their story. These are a few of my favorite photos from the session, and I am excited to share them with you.

Pasadena City Hall is one of my favorite places to photograph couples in Los Angeles. The elegant arches, soft light, and open courtyard make it perfect for any style of session, whether it is an editorial look, a warm family-friendly shoot, or something more experimental like this one. Every time I visit, I discover new ways to see the space. For Kevin and Irene, I decided to shoot from the second floor to capture the scale of the architecture and the two of them framed perfectly within it. The timing was incredible; the light, lines, and composition all came together naturally without any distractions or editing.

I loved this session because it reminded me that even at familiar locations, there is always something new to explore. Every shoot at Pasadena City Hall feels different, and this one was especially inspiring. When I got home and opened the photo folder, I was so excited to see how beautifully everything came together. This session felt like a true collaboration between two creative people and a space that never stops offering new possibilities.
